Do you share your pillow space with your pets?

Have you made up your mind to bed-share with your pet or not? And how does one follow a logical path to arrive at a reasonable decision....

Bed sharing with a beloved pets is not a new concept for many pet owners. In fact, the market place promotes this daily ritual. Just look at the variety of accessories to assist dogs and cats to get onto the bed today. However, letting cats and dogs sleep in the bed might cause sleeplessness for some people due to the following:

In fact, our survey shows that 7 in 10 to pet owners share their bed at some stage in their life. For the owners who does share their bed, they highlighted issues of cleanliness and stains on their high quality bedsheets. To get around this problem, we would recommend laying washable cotton quilts over the top of the bedding. Also, for aged pets, a rubber-backed fuzzy bath mat on top of quilts would be beneficial, and why not consider placing a step by the bedside if you bed is particularly high.

Sleep tight!

Mommy Money Saving Tips: 1

In today’s downturn economy, all moms & dads are having to find new ways to be efficient with a tight shopping basket budget. This doesn’t necessarily mean that luxuries like family vacations and weekends away should immediately get the axe. If there’s one positive outcome from the global financial crisis that has hit thousands of families and households across the globe, it’s the crafty and creative ways parents have found to save money and still keeping a sort of lifestyle.

When I heard of house swapping, I thought that it sounded too good to be true. Friends of mine who live in Manchester have swapped all over the UK to some great locations: Edinburgh for the fringe Festival, weekends in Brighton, and they are now getting ready to swap in San Francisco!
House swapping became popular within the last decade. It’s a very simple concept and relies on a culture of trust and respect for other people’s property by exchanging homes for an agreed period of timethrough a registered third party (such as Home Exchange ). People even swap cars and pets! There are thousands of house swappers across the globe. If you live in London or New York then your property is almost certain to attract other house swappers from around the world.
For families with kids it can be an ideal arrangement if you swap with another family who are willing to trade homes for a while. Apart from the registration fee which can be as little as £35 / $50 for a yearly online subscription, house swapping is absolutely free, meaning there are no hotel bills.
How it Works
Register your home with a house swap service and start looking at the other listings of people whose houses are available for the time you want to spend away. If they are looking for a house or apartment in the same area that you live in and at the same time you want to travel, then you can contact other house swappers and fix arrangements for your free holiday!
Other benefits of house swapping
• House swapping offers the chance to really get to know a culture away from corporate hotels
• Save more money on restaurant food when you’re on holiday by having a kitchen to cook in
• Have peace of mind that your house is being looked after while you’re away. Arrangements to look after pets can also be agreed
• If you’re a large family, then house swapping offers the space and room to relax that a hotel or self-catering apartment may not.

Toddlers & Tiaras

Photo: Taken by Toddlers & Tiaras

Mom "She's my beautiful little girl, all grown up."

It's important to support extra curriculum activities outside of school. For some parents, baby beauty pageant competitions is their thing.  Beauty pageant is an international competition which reflects the support from a lot of parents.

For the performers (the children) usually are given a series of tasks to perform, including fashion features on stage, and other talent performances. Then a panel of judges will award scores to each beauty pageant on a score card based on their performance and answers.  Sounds like America's Got Talent show, except the age limit is taken down a lot lower.

The winner will walk away with a cash prize starting form as little as $100 USD to thousands of dollars. How would you compare this to a Sunday Creative Art class or a horse ridding school? Let's take a look at the losers... for an adult, losing can be a traumatic experience but they have developed the communication skills and coping mechanism through adulthood to deal with the set back & rejection. How about for the young beauty pageants? Does anyone know how a young child deal with these difficult emotions and how would they learn to communicate this to their moms & dads?

Two Hearts Beats As One (A Pet Owner's Story)

How long does it take to count up all the cats in the world? ... all 220 million kitties. <3

Here is another interesting fact submitted by one of our lovely subscribers. A recent research study on the connection of pet ownership and a persons heart health draw the following result: A pet owner's heart respond better to body's changing requirements, such as beating faster under stress conditions (i.e during exercise or stressful activities) and had higher heart variability then those who doesn't own a pet.

The uniqueness of this experiment was that over 190 people's heart were monitored in real life situations, outside of the laboratory. The researcher at Kitasato University in Kanagawa, Japan monitored people with diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol over 24 hours.

One professor from UCLA of Public Health said "...pets are a form of social support and they can satify some but not all social companionship needs."

The detail report can be found in the American Journal of Cardiology. Here is a link directly to their website! http://www.ajconline.org/

DareDevil mom

How far would you go for mom & daughter/ father & son activity participation?

Recently, I came across this lifestyle blog of an adventurous mom, Menna Pritchard, who appears to have a passion for her outdoor activities. Menna is 26, a single mom with a 4 months old toddler, Ffion and a full-time student working toward a degree in outdoor education.

She made the headlines in the local newspaper when she climbed a lilmestone rock-face at Thre Cliffs Bay in Wales with Ffion. What's the big news? Picture Ffion strapped to Menna's back.

Adventure Mum

"Life is all about risks, whether that’s something as simple as getting in your car every day or climbing up a rock face,"

This Dare Devil mom certainly wins our respect for her. We think mounting the cliff or whatever sports she participates in, the most important thing is that she shares her true passion and joy with Ffion. The image of Menna & Ffion's struggle to reach the top of the climb resonates something more then just a simple bonding exercise, it's a reflection of their lifestyle.

Valentine's Day Special

Valentine's Day: The traditional definition of this V-day is a day for the exchange of tokens of affection.... Have you got the perfect gift for him/ her? How about a photo shoot session to capture your kids celebrating the day?

Here are some ideas on how-to capture the cute photo for their Valentines.

1. Fun Action shot - Focus on capturing the kids in action (a jump or twirling around in a circle) and the patterns created by their arms and legs.

2. Multiple Collage  shots - Double the numbers, double the Sweetness! Snap several photos at once, then put them in a collage arrangement for display.

3. Carnival shot - Take the shot to a creative level. This is a simple top-down shot. Decorate a flat surface (ground) with flowers & cutie bears and then ask the model (your kid) to sit over the decorations.

4. Cute Close up shot - Focus on facial features. To add a bit of magic, why not give him/ her a hat to wear?

5. "I Heart U" Signs - Give your kid hold-up signs with love messages.

6. Be Bold - Carefully print a short love note across the face.
