However, letting cats and dogs sleep in the bed might cause sleeplessness for some people due to the following:

Recent research at a Children's Hospital in Boston, USA (2011) in children with dyslexia has discovered new hopes.

Dyslexia is an illness which is characterised by difficulty in speaking and reading. A diagnose of this illness is not common until the child has reached the 3rd grade in kindergarden/ playschool, which is considered late for many experts. Children with a family history of the condition are at higher risk to develop dyslexia.

The clinicians at Children's Hospital in Boston hopes that their early prevention measures, like MRI brain-scans, may detect the signs of this illness before it develops, and help child combat this life-changing condition.

Two Hearts Beats As One (A Pet Owner's Story)

How long does it take to count up all the cats in the world? ... all 220 million kitties. <3

Here is another interesting fact submitted by one of our lovely subscribers. A recent research study on the connection of pet ownership and a persons heart health draw the following result: A pet owner's heart respond better to body's changing requirements, such as beating faster under stress conditions (i.e during exercise or stressful activities) and had higher heart variability then those who doesn't own a pet.

The uniqueness of this experiment was that over 190 people's heart were monitored in real life situations, outside of the laboratory. The researcher at Kitasato University in Kanagawa, Japan monitored people with diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol over 24 hours.

One professor from UCLA of Public Health said "...pets are a form of social support and they can satify some but not all social companionship needs."

Hairstyle Diary

t's just turn 10:30am, I checked in my pocket mirror for the 20th time in between crossing the road and waiting for the lights to change from amber to green on my way to the shopping mall.

Let's face it, most of us will never stop pouting in the mirror, or secretly worrying about the public opinion of our appearance, like our precious hair. In fact, our hair is one of the features we change to reflect our emotions.  The top 4 reasons for a new hairstyle are as follow:

  • a celebrity

  • a change of season

  • a breakup

  • new love

Our professional hair stylist says, if you're looking for a new hairstyle, but nothing too extreme. She recommends you to choose from these mommy-licious styles — the bob, the shag & the pixie.

The Bob

This popular cut is iconic and has been featured by many 30 something celebrities.  You can wear it sleek, wavy, or choppy.
Tips:  Swingy layers flatter all face shapes, from round to oval or square. "Use a thickening spray on damp strands to give it more movement,"

The Shag

This is "Layers with an attitude".
Tips: Most suited for straight hair. To achieve the maximum shine, you should blow-dry hair before finish with a smoothing serum.

The Pixie

This is the fabulous, cheeky yet classic style.
Tips: Most suited to compliment delicate facial features. You can enhance the texture by dabbing pomade on the ends.

Killer Infections - Fatal to New Born Babies

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Image via Wikipedia"][/caption]

What is this deadly infection that's killed 6 babies at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Belfast, Ireland?

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a common bacterium that can cause disease in animals, including humans. It is found in soil, water and on most surfaces. The symptoms of such infections are generalized inflammation and sepsis. If such colonizations occur in critical body organs, such as the lungs, the urinary tract, and kidneys, the results can be fatal especially in new born babies. Because this bacteria thrives on most surfaces, sometimes it can be found on medical equipment, causing cross-infections in hospitals and clinics.

New born babies are vulnerable due to their undeveloped immune system.
